A Brazilian bishop is drawing fire after mocking consecration to St. Michael the Archangel and calling the devil “rather imaginary,” then pivoting to declare the real “exorcism” should be against “homophobia,” “femicide,” racism, and crimes against indigenous peoples. Bishop Vicente Ferreira’s remarks, posted as another Brazilian prelate consecrated his archdiocese to St. Michael, have sparked outrage from Catholics who say he is openly undermining Church teaching and spiritual warfare itself.
