TASMANIA ABUSE SUIT ROCKS ARCHBISHOP
A Tasmanian woman has launched a Supreme Court claim against former Archbishop of Hobart Julian Porteous and the state, alleging she was sexually abused first by Catholic priest Bill Egan in 1999 and later by James Geoffrey Griffin in 2007. Porteous denies the abuse occurred, while the case could force a hard look at who knew what, and who had a duty to protect her.
