Arkansas has been ranked the nation’s top state for religious liberty after Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a slate of laws expanding faith protections, lifting the state to an 89.2% score and one of only two “excellent” ratings in a new index. The result puts Arkansas in the middle of a broader fight over how far states should go to shield religious conscience, with Sanders pitching it as a model others may now try to copy.
