NUNS BLOCKED FROM DYING LAW
Catholic nuns have won a temporary court order shielding them from key parts of New York’s new Medical Aid in Dying law, even as the state barrels ahead with implementation next month. A federal judge barred officials from forcing the Carmelite sisters and their facilities to help with counseling, referrals, paperwork, eligibility checks, or self-administration of lethal medication on their grounds — a sharp religious-freedom clash over a law set to let terminally ill adults request life-ending drugs.
