A Catholic deacon in Maryland is behind bars after police say he tried to arrange sex with someone he believed was a 15-year-old boy — only to be met by an undercover detective instead. Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler identified the suspect as 45-year-old Kenneth Goedeke of Bel Air, charged with two counts of sexual solicitation of a minor, with authorities saying he arrived at a location to carry out the alleged abuse. The Archdiocese of Baltimore says Goedeke served as a deacon and former Catholic school teacher, a stunning collapse of trust that has left church leaders distancing themselves as investigators move in.
