Pope Leo XIV is headed back to South America for the first apostolic journey of his pontificate, a 10-city, Nov. 6-17 blitz through Uruguay, Argentina and Peru — a trip that puts him in one of Latin America’s least religious countries, then into the homeland of Pope Francis, and finally back to Peru, where he once served as a missionary and bishop. The Vatican says the tour will hit Montevideo, Paysandú, Florida, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Luján, Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco and Pucallpa, marking Leo’s first return to the continent since his election and signaling a high-stakes push to reconnect with a region where faith, politics and papal symbolism collide.
