NORTHERN IRAQ – On Iran’s border with Iraq, battle-hardened fighters are ready to join the conflict against the Iranian regime. Kurdish fighters who helped the U.S. in the battle with ISIS are prepared to act if the conflict spreads.

Here at a housing block for Peshmerga families in northern Iraq, fighters point to damage from a recent Iranian rocket strike. Twisted metal, shattered concrete, and bullet-riddled walls tell the story. The attack killed one and injured two others.

Peshmerga Commander Ruba Laylakhi told us, “When I see this scene behind me, I feel a stronger desire to take revenge on those who killed my friend in the attack. We will continue this fight.”

Kurdish fighters from the Peshmerga, who played a crucial role in defeating ISIS, are now bracing for conflict against Iran following a recent deadly Iranian rocket strike on their position in northern Iraq. With shattered homes as a grim backdrop, fighters like Commander Ruba Laylakhi and young sniper Djwar express unwavering resolve to retaliate and defend their people, condemning Iran’s ongoing assaults as acts of terrorism. Operating under the Kurdish Freedom Party (PAK), these battle-tested fighters remain vigilant and open to cooperation with the U.S. and Israel, urging sustained international support to weaken the Iranian regime while preparing for a potentially broader conflict.
