GUNMEN, MARTYR, DOCU… ROTHER NIGHTMARE
A new documentary, “American Martyr: The Stanley Rother Story,” is set for theaters Aug. 25-27, revisiting the Oklahoma priest’s 1981 killing in Guatemala through witnesses, parishioners and his family, including Francisco Bocel, who recalls the night three gunmen seized him.
The film lands as Rother’s martyrdom and beatification keep his legacy alive, sharpening the clash between faith, violence and a canonization cause that could push his story deeper into the national spotlight.
