Michigan Democrats have narrowly nominated Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate, putting the far-left epidemiologist on track to potentially become the first Muslim elected to the chamber. El-Sayed edged Rep. Haley Stevens by just one point in a brutal primary fight and now faces Republican former Rep. Mike Rogers in a race that could become a high-stakes referendum on his hard-left platform, which backs abolishing ICE, mandatory government-run health care, taxing billionaire wealth and expanding “gender-affirming care.”
