DIVORCE PLUNGES AS NEW MARRIAGES HOLD FAST
U.S. divorce is sliding for younger marriages — and Catholic experts say the shift could reshape family life for a generation. Data from the Institute for Family Studies shows couples married in the 2010s are splitting at far lower rates than those married in earlier decades, with only 18% of first marriages from 2010–2012 ending in divorce after 10 years, down from 30% for 1970s marriages. Advocates like Mary Rose Verret, who runs the Witness to Love marriage ministry with her husband Ryan, say the answer starts close to home: “Start with your own marriage.”
