CHICAGO ARCHDIOCESE: FRAUD CLAIMS NETWORK EXPOSED
The Archdiocese of Chicago has won permission from a Cook County judge to press ahead with a countersuit against abuse claimants accused of filing false settlements, after defense lawyers tried to kill the case. Cardinal Blase Cupich said the fight targets a wider alleged network tied to prisons and jails, raising the stakes in a bitter battle over payouts and fraud.
