BISHOP CHARGED WITH CHILD RAPE

Roman Catholic Bishop David Oakley of Northampton has been charged by Staffordshire Police with two counts of raping a girl under 16, following an arrest tied to “non-recent” allegations made last September. The case jolts the Church and raises fresh questions over safeguarding as he heads to Cannock magistrates’ court on Aug. 14.
