The Archdiocese of Quebec, two schools and an insurer have agreed to pay $31.5 million to settle claims from about 150 alleged sexual abuse victims dating back to 1940, in a deal signed June 18 and still awaiting court approval on July 30. It is the largest payout by a Quebec diocese yet, and it signals mounting legal pressure that could push more dioceses into costly settlements. ABUSE BILL GROWS
