NOUl TYPHOON MENACE: 340,000 FLEE GUANGDONG
Typhoon Noul is bearing down on southern China, hammering Hong Kong and Guangdong with gale-force winds and soaking rain as authorities evacuate more than 340,000 people and brace for landfall. The storm, packing 90-mph sustained winds, is expected to hit around Huizhou and Shanwei early Sunday, with train service scrapped and more than 150 flights already canceled at Hong Kong airport. Regions from Guangdong to Fujian are on high alert as the monster system closes in.
