A Catholic deacon’s deadly hike turned brutal in Montana’s Glacier National Park: Anthony Pollio, 33, was mauled to death by a grizzly after apparently surprising the animal in the dark on the Mt. Brown Lookout trail, investigators say. The new report says Pollio emptied his bear spray but fell nearly 100 feet downslope as the attack continued, then climbed partway back up before the bear reengaged and killed him — the park’s first deadly bear attack in nearly 30 years.
