Senate Democrats blocked a motion to advance a House-passed bill to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, extending the 27-day shutdown that has crippled agencies like the TSA, marking the fourth time since February 12 they have opposed funding amid sharp partisan clashes. Democrats rejected the bill because it included funding for ICE and CBP, agencies under scrutiny following fatal shootings involving immigration agents, while the measure failed 51-46, with only centrist Sen. John Fetterman breaking ranks to support it, falling short of the 60 votes needed to proceed.
