18,000 FAMILIES HIT BY QUAKE AFTERMATH
Nearly 18,000 families hit by June’s devastating earthquakes in northern Venezuela have gotten emergency help through Caritas, as the Catholic Church steps into the void left by collapsing services and wrecked infrastructure. Three weeks in, more than 19,000 tonnes of aid have poured in, with 84 percent already distributed through the Church’s parish network, delivering food, hygiene kits, water and medical supplies to communities stripped of homes, clean water and basic necessities. In a country already battered by years of economic crisis, the relief effort has become a crucial lifeline.
